Michelle L.H. Bergman
Ms. Bergman is originally from Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland
in College Park, where she earned her B.S in biology. After working as a
paralegal for the food and drug practice at King & Spalding in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Bergman decided to attend law school at Washington University in St. Louis,
Missouri, where she received her J.D. in 2005. During law school, Ms. Bergman
focused on public interest environmental law, working as a law clerk at the
Washington University Interdisciplinary Environmental Law Clinic, and at the
Oakland office of Earthjustice. Ms. Bergman was named the J. Peter Schmitz
Fellow of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Clinic for her contributions to
the Clinic during the summer of 2003. Ms. Bergman also served on the board of
the Environmental Moot Court and participated in a number of negotiation and
moot court competitions.
Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Bergman worked as a litigation associate at
Bailey Law Group in Washington, D.C. At Bailey, Ms. Bergman counseled and
represented individual and corporate clients on a wide range of civil matters,
including business tort and contract claims, employment discrimination and
retaliation, warranty and consumer protection laws, class actions and insurance
coverage. From May to November 2008, on a secondment from Bailey, Ms. Bergman
worked as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Juvenile Section in the
Public Safety Division of the D.C. Office of the Attorney General. During her
tenure, Ms. Bergman managed a full trial docket and successfully prosecuted a
number of juvenile offenders.
Ms. Bergman joined the firm in December 2010 as an associate. She is admitted to
practice in Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland and is a member of
the American Bar Association, and the Fairfax Bar Association.
