David E. Murphy, from Fairfax Station, Virginia joined the Firm as an Associate in September 2016. Mr. Murphy earned his BA in Philosophy and Political Science, with minors in History and Legal Studies, from the University of Pittsburgh. While in college, Mr. Murphy studied abroad at Trinity College, Dublin.
Mr. Murphy earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School with cum laude honors in May 2016. While in law school, Mr. Murphy served as an Articles Editor on the Wisconsin Law Review, mentored first year law students and pre-law students with an interest in attending law school, and participated in the Federal Appeals Project, representing an indigent defendant in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Mr. Murphy also interned for former Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson and Justice N. Patrick Crooks (deceased) of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as well as for the Special Litigation and Appeals Department at the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Additionally, while in law school, Mr. Murphy interned with the firm.
Mr. Murphy handles a variety of employment and labor law matters involving business tort and contract claims, as well as employment discrimination, retaliation, and trade secret claims.
Mr. Murphy is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the District of Columbia, the State of Wisconsin, and the Western District of Wisconsin. Mr. Murphy is also admitted to practice before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
